Sharon Lawrence

Sharon Elizabeth Lawrence is an American dancer, actor and singer who is most famous for her award-winning character Sylvia Costas on the show 'NYPD Blue'. Since her early years, she's been interested in dance and acting. The father of her was an actor and studied as an actor in the theatre during his youth. She is from an extended family of storiestellers. However, she was the first in her family to transform this natural ability into the field of work. In Raleigh she completed her formal education and began an acting journey. This was sparked by her many musical appearances. Starting out on stage in the latter half of the 1980s, Lawrence has been featured in a variety of television serials and films in the years since. Her roles have included musicals such as 'Cabaret,' 'A Song at Twilight"Fiddler On the Roof," Roof' as well as Chicago.' She played Sylvia Costas in the police crime procedural 'NYPD blue and Blue' was recognized with a Screen Actors Guild Award. She has also appeared in 'Law and Order Special Victims Unit", 'Ladies Man"and 'Rizzoli & Isles"and 'Desperate Houswives' and numerous other TV shows.
